Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini is a marvelous piece of classic literature. Dr. Peter Blood, a man who hates violence and bloodshed, finds himself on the wrong side of the law after helping a friend. The friend took part in a rebellion against the king and after being wounded sought out Dr. Blood's aid. Peter willingly assisted him but wound up convicted of treason and banished to Jamaica.
