Abandoned Towers Audio and Video submission guidelines
Abandoned Towers accepts, for publication online, audio and video formatted content in accord with the following guidelines.
Please read the Abandoned Towers Writer’s Guidelines for information about what content we will and will not accept.
Audio submissions:
These sound files do not have a video component. Either they may be a dramatic presentation such as a radio play or they may be non-dramatic such as an audio book. They may have sound effects or a musical sound track, but such is not required.
Abandoned Towers does not host audio files that are accepted for publication. The author must host the file somewhere else and we will link to it from the magazine’s audio page. These submissions must be a story, an article, or a poem. Since there is no video, there must be a spoken sound track. We aren’t interested in an audio submission that is nothing but music and/or sound effects.
Video submissions:
Abandoned Towers will host these on our youtube profile and present them on the video page on the magazine’s web site. An audio component is not necessary for these files, but we are much less likely to accept a silent video than one with an audio component.
Before submitting your video to Abandoned Towers, please read all of the youtube guidelines.
Any videos that do not comply with youtube’s requirements will be declined.
All videos must be a story, an article, or a poem. A spoken sound track may be included but scrolling text in place of a spoken sound track is fine. We aren’t interested in chaotic, artsy videos that exist only for the purpose of being randomly colored mind candy.
Videos should be more than just a slide show of still images. If all you have to work with are still images, then at least vary the transitions, include some zooming and effects. A slide show with not much going on isn’t very interesting.
For both audio and video submissions:
The author must provide proof that they have the rights to all content contained in the submission. We reserve the right to decline any submissions where such proof is not provided or is not clear to us.
For those that need a slightly more blunt explanation:
Don’t use music from your favorite CD or rip video from a DVD. Create the music and video you use, or purchase it from companies that sell content to be used commercially.
Payment and Rights:
We pay $5.00 USD for audio submissions up to 10 minutes in length
We pay $15.00 for video submissions up to 10 minutes in length.
We require non-exclusive rights for a period of 1 year, though we will not take content down unless requested by the author to do so.
To submit an audio or video file:
Email a description of what you would like to submit to atsubs@gmail.com. Be prepared to send in a small sample of either audio or video if we are interested in your submission. Since videos placed on youtube must be high resolution, may be up to 10 minutes in length and 1 Gig in size, be prepared to send us your video on DVD if it is accepted.
